Pennsylvania Company Average Stock Prices Up 396% Under Obama, Schwartz, Casey and the US Fed, After Being Down 54% Due to Financial Meltdown

I found 119 Pennsylvania Companies in Yahoo's superb Finance website with current Total Market Capitalizations of at least $100 mil and which also had their common stocks trading on each of the following three dates:
  • On December 31, 2007 during President Bush's second term
  • On March 6, 2009, very early in President Obama's first term, which was the lowest point for the US stock market due to the spillover effects resulting from the 2008 financial meltdown, and 
  • also on the most recent date February 20, 2014.
A couple of these 119 Companies are legally headquartered overseas but with very substantial operations in Pennsylvania.  And Alcoa is headquartered in New York but with very substantial operations in Pennsylvania.

I also included ViroPharma since it was very recently sold.  That makes 120 Pennsylvania Companies.

The historical stock prices of these companies were obtained from the following two excellent internet resources....  Google Finance and MarketWatch Big Charts.

These 120 Pennsylvania Companies had their equally-company-weighted average stock market prices decline by a massive 54% from December 31, 2007 during President Bush's second Presidential term, to March 6, 2009, very early in President Obama's first term, which was the very lowest point for the overall stock market due to the spillover effects resulting from the disastrous 2008 Financial Meltdown.

But in the slightly less than five years since March 6, 2009, the equally-company-weighted average stock market prices of these same 120 Pennsylvania Companies have increased by a very impressive 398% through February 20, 2014.

This 398% average stock market growth since March 6, 2009 is particularly noteworthy since with Pennsylvania being so spread out, there are so many local banks whose stock market growth is not nearly as high as that of the other Pennsylvania Companies.  Thus, exclusive of these many local banks, the average stock market growth is substantially higher than 398%.

To show the consistency of these Pennsylvania Companies, only 2 of the 120 had stock market price declines since March 6, 2009.

10 of these 120 Pennsylvania Companies had stock market price increases of more than 10 times since March 6, 2009, led by Atlas Energy LP (up 57 times), Rite Aid (up 29 times) and HFF (up 24 times). 

Pennsylvania is not only blessed with having probably the premier graduate finance program in the world.....The Wharton School of Finance....., but they are also blessed to have one of the Top 5 members of the US House.....Allyson Schwartz....., who is exceptionally astute financially and who is also running for and would be a very effective Governor.  The overwhelming majority of Pennsylvania citizens, including Schwartz, are demanding an immediate, full expansion of Medicaid in Pennsylvania.  Republican Governor Corbett is not listening to them, stubbornly thinking he knows better.  But Pennsylvania citizens, for the most part, are a very bright lot.

Pennsylvania citizens must be very pleased with the outstanding performance of these Pennsylvania Companies during the Obama Administration.
