Rhode Island Company Average Stock Prices Up 608% Under Obama, Whitehouse, Reed and the US Fed, After Being Down 59% Due to Financial Meltdown

I found 9 Rhode Island Headquartered Companies in Yahoo's superb Finance website with current Total Market Capitalizations of at least $100 mil and which also had their common stocks trading on each of the following three dates:
  • On December 31, 2007 during President Bush's second term
  • On March 6, 2009, very early in President Obama's first term, which was the lowest point for the US stock market due to the spillover effects resulting from the 2008 financial meltdown, and
  • also on the most recent date February 20, 2014.
I also included Costa (previously named AT Cross) since it was very recently sold.  That makes 10 Rhode Island Companies.

The historical stock prices of these companies were obtained from the following two excellent internet resources....  Google Finance and MarketWatch Big Charts.

These 10 Rhode Island Companies had their equally-company-weighted average stock market prices decline by a massive 59% from December 31, 2007 during President Bush's second Presidential term, to March 6, 2009, very early in President Obama's first term, which was the very lowest point for the overall stock market due to the spillover effects resulting from the disastrous 2008 Financial Meltdown.

But in the slightly less than five years since March 6, 2009, the equally-company-weighted average stock market prices of these same 10 Rhode Island Companies Companies have increased by a spectacular 608% through February 20, 2014.

All 10 Rhode Island Companies had their stock market prices more than double since March 6, 2009 with the lowest increase being a very robust 146%.

The main driver of this 608% average stock market growth was LIN Media, whose stock price has increased 25 times since March 6, 2009.

Rhode Island is blessed with not just having one of the best universities in the world.....Brown.....and also a gigantic corporation which has decided to not sell tobacco products because it is the responsible thing to do.....CVS Caremark....., but also two great US Senators.

US Senators Sheldon Whitehouse and Jack Reed have both been especially effective advocates for Rhode Island businesses of all sizes.  But it amazes me how they are able to take so much narrow-minded abuse from most US Republican Senators.....in Whitehouse's case from climate change deniers and in Reed's case from unemployment benefit deniers.

Rhode Island citizens must be extremely pleased with the outstanding performance of these Rhode Island Companies during the Obama Administration.

Below here are the stock market prices of these 10 Rhode Island Companies on February 20, 2014, on March 6, 2009, and on December 31, 2007:
