211 Largest US Regional Banks Average Stock Prices Down 51% Due to Financial Meltdown Spillover Effects, Then Up 179% Under Obama and the US Fed

I found 211 US  Regional Bank Companies classified in the Financial Sector at Yahoo's superb Finance website with current Total Market Capitalizations of at least $100 mil each and which also had their common stocks trading on each of the following three dates:

• On December 31, 2007 during President Bush's second term
• On March 6, 2009, very early in President Obama's first term, which was their lowest point due to the spillover effects resulting from the 2008 financial meltdown, and 
• also on the most recent date January 31, 2014.

These 211 US Regional Bank Corps exclude the Big 4 US Money Center Banks that dominate the US Banking landscape.....JPMorgan Chase, Wells Fargo, Bank of America and Citigroup.  These 211 US Regional Banks also exclude the excellent 3 US Banks classified as Asset Management firms.....State Street Corp, Bank of New York Mellon and Northern Trust.   Also, New York Community Bancorp, Hudson City Bancorp, People's United Financial, First Niagara Financial and other similar Banks were classified as Savings & Loans Banks and thus were excluded from these 211 US Regional Banks.  Further, the very well-run Capital One Financial is also excluded from these 211 US Regional Banks since it was classified with the Credit Card companies.

The historical common stock prices of these companies were obtained from the following two excellent internet resources....  Google Finance and MarketWatch Big Charts.

These 211 US Regional Bank Corps had their average stock prices drop by a huge 51% from December 31, 2007 during President Bush's second Presidential term, to March 6, 2009, very early in President Obama's first term, which was the very lowest point for the overall stock market due to the spillover effects resulting from the disastrous 2008 Financial Meltdown.

But since March 6, 2009, the average stock prices of these same 211 US Regional Bank Corps have increased by 179% through January 31, 2014.

I find it interesting that the Bank leading this stock growth list.....Fifth Third Bancorp.....could well, from my first hand experience, also be the most unethical of the 211.

Only 10 of the 211 US Regional Banks experienced stock price declines since March 6, 2009.

The investors in and employees of a clear majority of these these 211 US Regional Bank Corps must be extremely pleased with the very positive impact of actions taken by both the Obama Administration and the US Fed to successfully rescue the US economy from its extremely weakened state caused by the disastrous 2008 US financial meltdown.

On the downside, as you can see in the below chart, the Big 4 US Money Center Banks experienced an average common stock price appreciation of 367% since March 6, 2009, which was more than double the 179% comparable average stock price growth of the 211 US Regional Bank Corps.

Further on the downside, the 10 largest US Regional Banks, ranked by Market Capitalization, experienced an even much higher 435% average stock price growth since March 6, 2009, as you can see in the chart here below:

Massive Income Inequality doesn't just exist with US individuals.....it also exists prevalently with US Banks.

Also, I don't think it is good for the US economy that the largest US Banks continue to do so much better than the smaller US Banks.  I think it would be wise for the US Fed, the US Congress and the Obama Administration to all focus more on enhancing the financial strength of the smaller US Banks.....they should be the engine of US economic growth.  Their less than ideal financial strength, coupled with the uncertain US economy, are both weighing on acceptable loan risk, and are keeping these smaller Banks from making more loans that would accelerate the US economy.
