Chicago Metro Area Unemployment Rate 6.1% in September 2014, Down from 8.4% in September 2013..... This 2.3% Unemployment Rate One-Year Decline is the 2nd Best of the 48 Largest US Metro Areas

From the US Bureau of Labor Statistics, the Chicago-Joliet-Naperville, Illinois Metropolitan Statistical Area had a non-seasonally adjusted Unemployment Rate of 6.1% in the most recently reported September 2014, a dramatic decline from the comparable 8.4% Unemployment Rate only one year earlier in September 2013.  This 2.3% Unemployment Rate decline was the second largest of all 48 US Metro Areas with total populations of 1 million or more.  Only the Las Vegas, Nevada Area had a larger one-year Unemployment Rate decline.
