Connecticut Companies Stock Market Prices Up 502% Since March 6, 2009

President Obama will be giving the Commencement Address at the Coast Guard Academy in New London, CT on this Wednesday, May 20, 2015.  Later, he will be attending a DNC Fundraiser in Stamford, CT.  Thus, as a backdrop for this Presidential visit, I think it would be helpful to update just what has been going on with Connecticut businesses.

From a very thorough review of SEC filings, I found 62 Connecticut Headquartered Companies with current Total Stock Market Capitalizations of at least $100 mil and which also had their common stocks trading on each of the following three dates:

  • On December 31, 2007, or early in 2008 for companies first going public then, both before the financial meltdown hit
  • On March 6, 2009, which was the lowest point for the US stock market due to the spillover effects resulting from the 2008 financial meltdown, and
  • also on the most recent date May 18, 2015, or the date the Companies were sold, if they were sold since the beginning of 2014
The historical stock prices of these companies were obtained from the following two excellent internet resources....  Google Finance and MarketWatch Big Charts.

These 62 Connecticut Companies had their equal-company weighted average stock market prices decline by a huge 58% from December 31, 2007 before the 2008 Financial Meltdown hit to March 6, 2009, which was the very lowest point for the overall stock market due to the spillover effects resulting from the disastrous 2008 Financial Meltdown.

But in the six years and two months since March 6, 2009 through the most recent date May 18, 2015, the average stock market prices of these same 62 Connecticut Companies have increased by a very impressive 502%.

There has been something upwardly explosive happening with the Connecticut Companies Stock Market Prices since the 2008/2009 US Financial Meltdown, and among others, President Obama, Connecticut US Democratic Senators Richard Blumenthal and Chris Murphy, Connecticut US House of Representative Members Joe Courtney, Rosa DeLauro, Elizabeth Esty, Jim Hines and John Larson, and Connecticut Governor Dan Malloy have all undoubtedly helped here.

Below here are the 62 Connecticut Headquartered Companies with Stock Market Caps now of at least $100 mil and which have had their common stocks trading from December 31, 2007, or early in 2008 for companies first going public then, through the most recent date May 15, 2015, or the date the Companies were sold, if they were sold since the beginning of 2014, along with the related Stock Market Price Percentage Changes.
