The historical stock prices of these companies were obtained from the following two excellent internet resources.... Google Finance and MarketWatch Big Charts. The superb Yahoo Finance website was also utilized.
Of these 101 US IPOs in 2012, 27 are Technology Companies, 18 are Oil & Gas, 16 are Services, 11 are Health Care, 9 are Other Financial, 8 are REITs and 12 are in Other Sectors.
From a stock market price perspective, the 8 REITs are unlike the Other 93 Companies because in order to keep their tax-exempt status, REITs must distribute each year at least 90% of their taxable income.
The 93 Non-REIT Companies having IPOs in 2012 posted an average stock market price increase of an incredibly off-the-charts 98% in the very short 20 month average period of time through March 7, 2014.
Technology and Health Care Companies drove this stock market price appreciation avalanche.
There was an incredibly huge number of 27 Technology Companies having IPOs in 2012 and they registered an average stock price increase of a monstrous 140% in the very short 20 month average period. Two what I would call Technology Companies.....Solar City and WageWorks.....both had their stock market prices increase by more than 5 times. Eight of these 27 Techs had their stock market prices increase by more than 2 times. And fourteen of these 27 Technology Companies had their stock market prices more than double in this very short period of time through March 7, 2014.
Six Application Software Companies issuing IPOs in 2012 had their average stock prices more than double.
The 11 US Health Care Companies having IPOs in 2012 had their average stock market price increase by an incredibly off-the-charts 245% in the very short 20 month average period through March 7, 2014. Drug Company Intercept Pharmaceuticals had its stock market price increase by an almost unbelievable 19 times. And there were 3 Biotechnology Companies which had their stock market prices more than double. Altogether there were 8 Biotechnology Companies filing IPOs in 2012.
There were a huge number of 18 2012 IPOs related to US Oil and Gas Companies, with an average stock market price increase of 37% through March7, 2014, led by Diamondback Energy's massive 265% stock market price growth.
There were 16 US Services Company IPOs in 2012 with an average stock market price increase of 41% through March 7, 2014. Three of them had their stock prices more than double, including Bloomin Brands, which has the outstanding restaurant chain Outback as part of it.
The 9 Other Financial Companies having IPOs in 2012 had an average stock market price increase of an impressive 57% through March 7, 2014, with all 9 registering stock market price increases.
The 12 Other Sector Companies having IPOs in 2012 had an average stock market price increase of a very impressive 68% through March 7, 2014, with 3 of these Companies having their stock market prices more than double.
In addition to these 101 US IPOs in 2012, there were another 5 US IPOs in 2012 where the Company was acquired subsequently. Their average stock market price increase for the extremely short period from IPO date to stock sale date was a very healthy 39%, with the lowest increase of the 5 being a respectable 21%.
It should also be pointed out that this exceptional average stock market price growth for all of these 2012 US IPOs as well as the nearly 500% increase in the number of US IPOs over 2008 both occurred when the US Senate was in Democratic Control.
It is pretty clear to me that Obama can now be called the IPO President.
