The historical stock prices of these companies were obtained from the following two excellent internet resources.... Google Finance and MarketWatch Big Charts. The superb Yahoo Finance website was also utilized.
The 8 US Technology Company IPOs in 2009 had their average stock price increase by a very impressive 151% through March 7, 2014.
The 5 US Health Care Company IPOs in 2009 had their average stock price increase by a very impressive 144% through March 7, 2014.
The 8 US Services Company IPOs in 2009 had their average stock price increase by 60% through March 7, 2014.
Leading the US Other Sectors was Mead Johnson Nutrition, operationally based in Evansville, IN, which posted stock price appreciation of 215% through March 7, 2014.
There were 8 2009 IPOs related to US REITs, whose average stock price increase was a modest 12% through March 7, 2014, but then to keep its tax-exempt status, the REIT must distribute at least 90% of its taxable income in each year.
Interestingly, in both the US Biotechnology and the US Oil & Gas Industries there was only one IPO each in 2009. This will be changing dramatically after 2009.
In addition to these 34 US IPOs in 2009, there were another 11 US IPOs in 2009 where the Company was acquired subsequently. Their average stock market price increase for the short period from IPO date to stock sale date was 30%, led by another Technology Company.....Ancestry.com.....which experienced 125% stock market price growth between IPO and stock sale date.
It should also be pointed out that this very nice average stock market price growth for all of these 2009 US IPOs occurred when the US Senate was in Democratic Control.
