The historical stock prices of these companies were obtained from the following two excellent internet resources.... Google Finance and MarketWatch Big Charts. The superb Yahoo Finance website was also utilized.
Of these 76, 17 are Technology Companies, 15 are Services, 9 are REITs and 12 are Other Financials.
Tesla Motors led the way with 927% stock price appreciation through March 7, 2014. I didn't include Tesla with the 17 Technology Companies, but in my mind it is mainly a Technology-driven Company.
The 3 Oil & Gas Companies with 2010 IPOs had their average market price increase by a very robust 161% through March 7, 2014, led by Oil & Gas Pipeline Company Targa Resources Investments.
The 7 US Health Care Company IPOs in 2010 had their average stock price increase by a very impressive 109% through March 7, 2014, led by two Biotechs.....there's that Tech word again.....with both of them having their stock market price increase by more than 300%.
The huge number of 17 US Technology Company IPOs in 2010 had their average stock price increase by an impressive 79% through March 7, 2014, with two Application Software Companies leading the way with stock price increases of at least 250% each. And 5 of the 9 best-performing Technology Stocks were Application Software Companies.
In the Services Sector, the leader was FleetCor Technologies.....there's that Technology word again.....with a stock market price increase of 350%.
There were 9 2010 IPOs related to US REITs, whose average stock price increase was a seemingly modest 17% through March 7, 2014, but then to keep its tax-exempt status, the REIT must distribute at least 90% of its taxable income in each year.
There were a huge number of 12 Financial IPOs in 2010 other than REITs. Eleven of the 12 had stock market price increases through March 7, 2014.
In addition to these 76 US IPOs in 2010, there were another 10 US IPOs in 2010 where the Company was acquired subsequently. Their average stock market price increase for the very short period from IPO date to stock sale date was 51%, led by Drug Company Trius Therapeutics, which experienced 180% stock market price growth between IPO and stock sale date.
It should also be pointed out that this very nice average stock market price growth for all of these 2010 US IPOs as well as the more than 300% increase in the number of US IPOs over 2008 both occurred when the US Senate was in Democratic Control.
