I excluded from their study hospitals which I didn't consider general purpose ones. I was left with 97 Oklahoma Hospitals.
Of these 97 Oklahoma Hospitals, 68 of them, or a massive 70% of them, had less than 100 hospital beds and 33 of them had 25 or less hospital beds.
Of these 68 Hospitals with fewer than 100 beds, an amazingly high 55 of them had Operating Losses in 2012.
These 68 Hospitals posted Total Operating Losses of $62.6 mil in 2012.

The simple solution to this horrible situation is for the State Of Oklahoma to fully Expand Medicaid. Fifty-Six of these 68 smaller Oklahoma Hospitals reported their amounts of Uncompensated Care, which totaled $99.1 mil in 2012.
When I review the financial data related to all 97 Oklahoma Hospitals, it just amazes me of the extent of income inequality between the wealthiest Oklahoma Hospitals and all of the others.
The Total Bottom Line Net Income of the 29 Oklahoma Hospitals with 100 or more hospital beds was a massive $553.2 mil in 2012. On the other hand, the Total Bottom Line Net Income of the 68 Oklahoma Hospitals with less than 100 hospital beds was a paltry $14.4 mil in 2012.
Tulsa-based St. Francis Hospital generated Total Bottom Line Net Income of $183.2 mil in 2012, which was nearly 13 times such income of the 68 smaller Oklahoma Hospitals with less than 100 beds combined. And yes, St. Francis is a Non-Profit Hospital.
And Tulsa-based Non-Profit St. John Medical Center generated Total Bottom Line Net Income of $72.2 mil in 2012, which was 5 times such income of the 68 smaller Oklahoma Hospitals with less than 100 beds combined. And yes, St. John is also a Non-Profit Hospital.
