Rhode Island Corporate 2011 Annual Earnings Up 8% Over 2010

I found 3 Corporations headquartered in Rhode Island, which file with the SEC, and which had Pretax Income or Pretax Loss of more than $100 mil in any of the most recent three fiscal years.

The Total Pretax Income of all of these 3 Rhode Island Corps increased by 8% in 2011 over 2010, whereas in 2010, it was just about precisely flat with that of 2009.

The extremely well run CVS Caremark dominates the Rhode Island profit scene.  CVS Caremark comprised a massive 85% of the Total Pretax Profit of all 3 Rhode Island Corps in 2011.  Its 2011 Pretax Income was $5.7 bil, up 3% over 2010.  Its 2010 Pretax Income was down 5% from 2009.

In deriving Pretax Income, I start with Pretax Income under Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), and then exclude several clearly unusual very large items relative to Pretax Income, such as Asset Impairments, and Gains and Losses on both Debt Retirements and Asset Dispositions.

Below here is the Pretax Income (PTI) or Pretax Loss (PTL) of these 3 Rhode Island Corps for each of the most recent three years.
