The two largest corporations I found, which are headquartered in Maine, and which file with the SEC, are Westbrook-based Health Care Company Idexx Laboratories and South Portland-based Business Services Firm Wright Express.
Maine is blessed to have as the Head of the US Small Business Administration, well qualified Karen Mills, who is from Maine, and who has very effectively been a strong advocate for all Maine companies.
In addition, Maine US Senators Olympia Snowe and Susan Collins, and Maine US House members Chellie Pingree and Michael Michaud, have also all been very helpful in fostering the strong operating performance of both Idexx Labs and Wright Express, as well as many other Maine firms of all sizes.
