The Ohio Market Areas of Columbus, Cincy/Dayton, Toledo and Akron All Underperformed on the Earnings Front in 2017, Trump's First Year in Office .......................................................................................

From a review of US SEC filings, I found 17 Columbus Area, 18 Cincinnati/Dayton Area, 4 Toledo Area and 2 Akron Area Non-Utility Companies with stock market caps of more than $1 Bil recently.

These 4 Ohio Market Areas Underperformed on the earnings front in Fiscal Year Ended (FYE) 2017. Trump's first year in office.

The 17 Columbus Area Cos Generated Total Audited US GAAP Pretax Income From Continuing Operations in FYE Ended 2017 which declined by a substantial 28% from that in 2016.  In contrast, these 17 Columbus Area Cos experienced a much lower earnings decline in 2016 of 3% and positive earnings growth of 8% in 2015. 

The 18 Cincinnati/Dayton Area Cos Generated Total Audited US GAAP Pretax Income From Continuing Operations in FYE Ended 2017 which declined by 0.6% from that in 2016.  In 2016, this earnings growth was 0.3% and in 2015 this earnings growth was 8%.

The 4 Toledo Area Cos Generated Total Audited US GAAP Pretax Income From Continuing Operations in FYE Ended 2017 which declined by a substantial 20% from that in 2016.  In sharp contrast, these 4 Toledo Area Cos experienced an earnings growth in 2016 of 19%, followed by earnings growth of an even better 42% in 2015.

The 2 Akron Area Cos Generated Total Audited US GAAP Pretax Income From Continuing Operations in FYE Ended 2017 which declined by a substantial 27% from that in 2016.  In very sharp contrast, these 2 Akron Area Cos experienced an earnings growth in 2016 of an exceptional 52%.

My Focus is on Pretax Income Rather Than on After-Tax Net Income Because Income Taxes are Simply a Transfer of Financial Wealth Between US Corporations and the US Federal, US State and Foreign Governments.  It Has Nothing Whatsoever to do with Company Operating Performance.

From a review of SEC filings, the chart below shows the Audited Gold-Standard US GAAP Pretax Income (Loss) From Continuing Operations for the Fiscal Years Ended 2017, 2016, 2015 and 2014 for these 41 Ohio Non-Utility Companies with stock market caps above $1 Bil recently.
