The Three Southwest Indiana State Republicans Elected in the Tea Party Wave of 2010 (Jim Tomes, Ron Bacon and Wendy McNamara) ..... Indiana Companies Have Underperformed During Their Seven Years in Office (2011 to 2017) ....................................................................................

Since there was an Indivisible Evansville Meet the Candidates forum held last night Tuesday,  Sept 18th at 7:00 PM in the Ivy Tech Auditorium (3501 N First Avenue) in Evansville, Indiana, I think it would be helpful to research just how well Indiana Companies have performed since the horrible 2008 US financial meltdown.

Unfortunately, the 3 Indiana State Republican candidates (Jim Tomes, Ron Bacon and Wendy McNamara) all refused to show up for the debate last night.

All 3 have been in office from 2011 to now.

Democrats Edie Hardcastle is running against Jim Tomes,  John Hurley against Ron Bacon and Steve Folz against Wendy McNamara.  All 3 Democrats showed up and so did Democrat Ryan Hatfield who is running unopposed.

All 4 State Democratic candidates and also US House candidate William Tanoos did superb jobs in their presentations and their answers to questions.

In my eyes, the stick out performer was Edie Hardcastle.

Now to the Indiana Company numbers.

There were 23 Indiana Headquartered Companies which filed audited financial statements both for the December year 2008  and also consecutively through the most recent year ended December 2017 and which also had stock market caps of above $1 bil recently.

Nearly all Republicans, a high percentage of Independents and even many perceptive Democrats all agree as a starting point that for US capitalism to work properly, Companies must generate in the aggregate reasonably healthy profits.

The problem here is that Indiana Companies in the aggregate have not generated reasonably healthy profits in the past seven years ...... and it's not even close.  There is no way the bulk of these Indiana Companies could be pleased with the Southwest Indiana State Republicans in office or with US House Republican Larry Bucshon.  The leaders of these 23 Indiana Companies can read and can understand Company financial statements.

These 23 Indiana Cos posted Audited Gold-Plated US GAAP Total Pretax Income From Continuing Operations of $16.010 Bil in the Annual Year Ended December 2017, which is down 4.4% from their comparable total earnings of $16.744 Bil in the Annual Year Ended 2010.

So who held office in Southwest Indiana during the entire seven years from 2011 to 2017 when this substantial Indiana Companies earnings underperformance occurred?  All Republicans and specifically Larry Bucshon, Jim Tomes, Ron Bacon and Wendy McNamara.

The US financial meltdown just crushed Indiana, just like it did many other US States.  For the Annual Year Ended December 2008, these 23 Indiana Companies Posted Audited Gold-Plated US GAAP Total Pretax Income From Continuing Operations of only $4.863 Bil.

But then the comparable Total Pretax Earnings of these same 23 Indiana Cos just soared like a rocket in 2009, up by an off-the-charts 184%, increasing from $4.863 Bil in Annual 2008 to $13.816 Bil in Annual 2009.

And in Annual 2010, these same Total Pretax Earnings increased by another 21% to $16.744 Bil.

So who held these key elected Southwest Indiana office seats when these Indiana Companies earnings exploded so incredibly high in the two years 2009 and 2010?  All Democrats:  Dennis Avery, Trent Van Haaften, Gail Riecken, Bob Deig and Brad Ellsworth.  And Democratic US Senate Candidate Joe Donnelly was then also in US House elected office up in Northern Indiana.

From SEC filings, the below chart shows the Audited US GAAP Pretax Income (Loss) From Continuing Operations for each of these 23 fine Indiana Companies for the most recent three years (2017, 2016 and 2015) and also for the 2008 US Meltdown Year and the Two Recovery Years of 2009 and 2010:

There are only 3 additional Indiana Cos meeting the above criteria except that they have other than a December fiscal year end: Berry Plastics Group which has a very strong earnings trend, Thor Industries which has a strong earnings trend and Hillenbrand.

Also, there will be other US States whose Cos will have similar total earnings trends to that of the above total earnings trend of these 23 Indiana Cos.

My clear conclusion is that the Tea Party Wave of 2010 has severely harmed Total Indiana Company profits of the past seven years.  And it has also done so all over the country.
