Current Florida US Senator Bill Nelson has served in the US Senate from 2001 to now.
His current US Senate term started in the beginning of 2013.
From a review of SEC filings, there are 68 Florida headquartered Companies with November, December or January fiscal year ends, with stock market caps above $1 Bil recently and which have filed their annual audited financial statements consecutively from Fiscal Year End (FYE) 2012 through FYE 2017.
Nearly all Republicans, a high percentage of Independents and even many perceptive Democrats all agree as a starting point that for US capitalism to work properly, Companies must generate in the aggregate reasonably healthy profits.
And did these fine Florida Companies ever post very healthy profits from 2012 to 2016, during Bill Nelson's first four years of his current US Senate term.
In each year from 2013
to 2016, these 68 Florida Companies posted Total Pretax Income From Continuing
Operations which increased by double-digit percentages from the immediately
preceding year ..... Up 13% in 2013, Up 10% in 2014, Up 13% in 2015 and accelerating to Up 22%
in 2016.
Then in 2017, Donald
Trump's first year in office, the Total Pretax Earnings of these 68 Florida
Companies precipitously reversed course and declined by 1% from that in 2016.
My Focus is on Pretax
Income Rather Than After-Tax Net Income Because Income Taxes are Simply a
Transfer of Financial Wealth Between US Corporations and the US Federal, US
State and Foreign Governments. It Has Nothing Whatsoever to do with
Company Operating Performance.
From a review of SEC filings, the chart below shows the Audited Gold-Standard US GAAP Pretax Income (Loss) From Continuing Operations for annual years 2017, 2016, 2015, 2014, 2013 and 2012 for these 68 Florida Companies.
