I only included traditional REITs, and thus I excluded Health Care, Storage, Institutional, Mortgage and other non-traditional ones.
The historical stock prices of these companies were obtained from the following two excellent internet resources.... Google Finance and MarketWatch Big Charts.
These 35 US REITs had their average stock prices drop by a massive 72% from the midpoint of President Bush's second Presidential term on December 31, 2006 and very early in President Obama's first term, or on March 6, 2009, which was these US REITs very lowest point resulting from the disastrous 2008 Financial Meltdown.
But nearly miraculously since March 6, 2009, the average stock prices of these 35 REITs have increased by an exceptional 302% through yesterday January 15, 2014.
Clearly, the investors in and executives of these 35 US REITs must be extremely pleased with the financial impact of actions taken by both the Obama Administration and the US Fed, which rescued many of them from almost certain bankruptcy.....when you lose 72% of your market value, there is an awfully good chance you are headed for the financial junk pile.
