San Francisco Bay & Silicon Valley Areas Company Stock Prices On Fire in the Most Recent Month

I found 195 San Francisco Bay Area, Including the Silicon Valley Area, Headquartered Companies in Google or Yahoo's superb Finance websites with current Total Market Capitalizations of at least $100 mil and which also had their common stocks trading on each of the following three dates:
  • On December 31, 2007 during President Bush's second term
  • On March 6, 2009, very early in President Obama's first term, which was the lowest point for the US stock market due to the spillover effects resulting from the 2008 financial meltdown, and 
  • also on the most recent date June 13, 2014
I also included 4 Companies which were sold in 2014 and one Company sold in Sept 2013.  And I also included one Company whose common stock first started trading in 2008.  That makes a total of 201 San Francisco & Silicon Valley Area Companies.

Several of these 201 San Francisco Bay Area Companies are legally headquartered overseas but with very substantial operations in the San Francisco Bay Area.

The historical stock prices of these companies were obtained from the following two excellent internet resources....  Google Finance and MarketWatch Big Charts.

These 201 San Francisco & Silicon Valley Area Companies had their average stock market prices decline by a huge 55% from December 31, 2007 during President Bush's second Presidential term, to March 6, 2009, very early in President Obama's first term, which was the very lowest point for the overall stock market due to the spillover effects resulting from the disastrous 2008 Financial Meltdown.

But in the five years and three months since March 6, 2009 through June 13, 2014, the average stock market prices of these same 201 San Francisco & Silicon Valley Area Companies have increased by a spectacular 493%.

California San Francisco and Silicon Valley Areas very high earnings multiple technology and biotechnology company stock market prices really took it on the chin in the three months prior to May 16, 2014.  But in the most recent month, led by the bounce back of the many California San Francisco and Silicon Valley technology and biotechnology companies, these San Francisco and Silicon Valley Areas Company stock prices have been on fire.  To illustrate this point, the average stock market prices of these same San Francisco and Silicon Valley Areas Companies had increased by a lower 456% in the five years and two months from March 6, 2009 through May 16, 2014, as compared with a much higher 493% increase in the five years and three months from March 6, 2009 through June 13, 2014.

The 39 San Francisco & Silicon Valley Areas Health Care Companies had an average stock market price increase in the five years and three months since March 6, 2009 to June 13, 2014 of an incredibly off-the-charts 1,087%.....yeah, that's up nearly 11 times.

The 119 San Francisco & Silicon Valley Areas Technology Companies registered an average stock market price increase in the five years and three months since March 6, 2009 to June 13, 2014 of a very impressive 368%.

The 21 San Francisco Area Finance Companies posted an average stock market price increase in the five years and three months since March 6, 2009 to June 13, 2014 of a very impressive 342%.

The 14 San Francisco Area Services Companies had an average stock market price increase in the five years and three months since March 6, 2009 to June 13, 2014 of an impressive 303%.

Altogether there were 14 San Francisco Area Companies which increased their stock market prices by more than 10 times in the five years and three months since March 6, 2009 to June 13, 2014.  11 of these 14 were Technology Companies.

To illustrate the overall operational excellence of these 201 San Francisco and Silicon Valley Area Companies, only 11 of them had their stock market prices decline in the five years and three months since March 6, 2009 through June 13, 2014.

In similar fashion on the employment front, from the US Bureau of Labor Statistics, the US unemployment rate doubled from 5.0% in December 2007 to 10.0% in October 2009, early in President Obama's first term which was the very lowest point for the US Labor Market due to the lagging spillover effects resulting from the disastrous 2008 Financial Meltdown.

And then with the US economic stimulating actions of the Obama Administration, supported by both a Democratic controlled US Senate and US House (at the time), taking full effect, coupled with the Quantitative Easing by the US Fed, the US unemployment rate declined sharply from 10.0% in October 2009 to 6.3% in the most recently reported May 2014.

In a like manner on the employment front, the State of California's unemployment rate more than doubled, going from 5.8% in December 2007 to 12.1% in October 2009.  And then with the US economic stimulating actions of the Obama Administration, supported by both a Democratic controlled US Senate and US House (at the time), going full throttle, coupled with both the Quantitative Easing by the US Fed and a very proactive, Democratic controlled California State Government, the California unemployment rate declined sharply, going from 12.1% in October 2009 to 7.8% in the most recently reported April 2014. 

San Francisco Bay Area citizens should be extremely pleased with the outstanding performance of nearly all of their San Francisco Bay Area Companies during the Obama Administration.
