These 62 Minnesota Companies had their average stock market prices decline by a huge 51% from December 31, 2007 during President Bush's second Presidential term, to March 6, 2009, very early in President Obama's first term, which was the very lowest point for the overall stock market due to the spillover effects resulting from the disastrous 2008 Financial Meltdown.
But in the slightly more than five years and three months since March 6, 2009, the equal-company-weighted average stock market prices of these same 62 Minnesota Companies have increased by a spectacular 500% through June 23, 2014, led by Select Comfort's stock market price increasing by a massive 99 times in the most recent slightly more than 5 years and three months.
Seven of these 62 Minnesota Companies..... Select Comfort, Polaris Industries, Clearfield, Arctic Cat, Famous Dave's of America, ValueVision Media, and Stratasys Ltd.... had their stock market prices increase by more than 10 times in the most recent slightly more than 5 years and three months.
The stock market prices of these Minnesota Companies were on fire in the most recent month. To illustrate this point, the average stock market prices of these 62 Minnesota Companies had increased by a lower 464% in the five years and two months from March 6, 2009 through May 14, 2014, as compared with a substantially higher 500% increase in the slightly more than five years and three months from March 6, 2009 through June 23, 2014.
To illustrate the overall excellent operational performance of these 62 Minnesota Companies, only 5 of them experienced stock market price declines in the most recent slightly more than five years and three months.
Minnesota citizens should be extremely pleased with the outstanding performance of nearly all of their Minnesota Companies during the Obama Administration.
In similar fashion on the employment front, from the US Bureau of Labor Statistics, the US unemployment rate doubled from 5.0% in December 2007 to 10.0% in October 2009, early in President Obama's first term which was the very lowest point for the US Labor Market due to the lagging spillover effects resulting from the disastrous 2008 Financial Meltdown.
And then with the US economic stimulating actions of the Obama Administration, supported by both a Democratic controlled US Senate and US House (at the time), taking full effect, coupled with the Quantitative Easing by the US Fed, the US unemployment rate declined sharply from 10.0% in October 2009 to 6.3% in the most recently reported May 2014.
In like manner, Minnesota's unemployment rate increased sharply, going from 4.8% in December 2007 to 7.8% in October 2009. And then with the US economic stimulating actions of the Obama Administration, supported by both a Democratic controlled US Senate and US House (at the time), going full throttle, coupled with the Quantitative Easing by the US Fed, the Minnesota State unemployment rate declined sharply, going from 7.8% in October 2009 to 4.6% in the most recently reported May 2014.
