Los Angeles Area Company Stock Prices Up Again Nicely in the Most Recent Month

I found 130 Los Angeles Area Headquartered Companies in Google or Yahoo's superb Finance websites with current Total Market Capitalizations of at least $100 mil and which also had their common stocks trading on each of the following three dates:
  • On December 31, 2007 during President Bush's second term
  • On March 6, 2009, very early in President Obama's first term, which was the lowest point for the US stock market due to the spillover effects resulting from the 2008 financial meltdown, and 
  • also on the most recent date June 13, 2014
I also included 5 Companies which were sold in 2014 or in the last half of 2013.  And I also included 2 Companies whose common stock first started trading in 2008.  That makes a total of 137 Los Angeles Area Companies.

The historical stock prices of these companies were obtained from the following two excellent internet resources....  Google Finance and MarketWatch Big Charts.

These 137 Los Angeles Area Companies had their average stock market prices decline by a huge 56% from December 31, 2007 during President Bush's second Presidential term, to March 6, 2009, very early in President Obama's first term, which was the very lowest point for the overall stock market due to the spillover effects resulting from the disastrous 2008 Financial Meltdown.

But in the five years and three months since March 6, 2009 through June 13, 2014, the average stock market prices of these same 137 Los Angeles Area Companies have increased by a spectacular 405%.

The 32 Los Angeles Area Services Companies had an average stock market price increase in the five years and three months since March 6, 2009 through June 13, 2014 of a spectacular 474%.

The 24 Los Angeles Area Technology Companies registered an average stock market price increase in the five years and three months since March 6, 2009 through June 13, 2014 of a spectacular 457%.

The 19 Los Angeles Area Health Care Companies had an average stock market price increase in the five years and three months since March 6, 2009 through June 13, 2014 of a spectacular 402%.
 
The 33 Los Angeles Area Finance Companies posted an average stock market price increase in the five years and three months since March 6, 2009 through June 13, 2014 of a spectacular 391%.

And the 29 Los Angeles Area Companies in Other Sectors posted an average stock market price increase in the five years and three months since March 6, 2009 through June 13, 2014 of a very impressive 303%.

Altogether there were 14 of these 137 Los Angeles Area Companies which increased their stock market prices by more than 10 times in the five years and three months since March 6, 2009 through June 13, 2014.  These 14 were widely dispersed over many sectors.

Unlike in the San Francisco and Silicon Valley Areas, which have roughly 80% of its Companies with market caps of at least $100 mil in just 2 Sectors.....Technology and Health Care....., Los Angeles Area Companies are dispersed over many sectors, thus the Los Angeles Area Companies in total didn't experience the massive average stock price decline in the three months prior to May 16, 2014 that was experienced in Northern California.

These 137 Los Angeles Area Companies had their average stock market prices increase nicely in the most recent month.  To illustrate this point, the average stock market prices of these same Los Angeles Area Companies had increased by a lower 383% in the five years and two months from March 6, 2009 through May 16, 2014, as compared with a higher 405% increase in the five years and three months from March 6, 2009 through June 13, 2014.

To illustrate the overall operational excellence of these 137 Los Angeles Companies, only 8 of them had their stock market prices decline in the five years and three months since March 6, 2009 through June 13, 2014.

Los Angeles Area citizens should be extremely pleased with the outstanding performance of nearly all of their Los Angeles Area Companies during the Obama Administration.

In a similar light on the employment front, from the US Bureau of Labor Statistics, the US unemployment rate doubled from 5.0% in December 2007 to 10.0% in October 2009, early in President Obama's first term which was the very lowest point for the US Labor Market due to the lagging spillover effects resulting from the disastrous 2008 Financial Meltdown.

And then with the US economic stimulating actions of the Obama Administration, supported by both a Democratic controlled US Senate and US House (at the time), taking full effect, coupled with the Quantitative Easing by the US Fed, the US unemployment rate declined sharply from 10.0% in October 2009 to 6.3% in the most recently reported May 2014.

In like manner, the State of California's unemployment rate more than doubled, going from 5.8% in December 2007 to 12.1% in October 2009.  And then with the US economic stimulating actions of the Obama Administration, supported by both a Democratic controlled US Senate and US House (at the time), going full throttle, coupled with both the Quantitative Easing by the US Fed and a very proactive, Democratic controlled California State Government, the California unemployment rate declined sharply, going from 12.1% in October 2009 to 7.8% in the most recently reported April 2014. 

Below here are the stock market prices of these 137 Los Angeles Area Companies on June 13, 2014, on March 6, 2009, and on December 31, 2007, along with the related % Changes for these two periods of time, with all of this information sorted by Sectors:
