The 278 US Companies With Market Caps Several Months Ago of $3-5 Bil Registered First Half 2016 US GAAP Total Earnings of $13.6 Bil, Down 24% From Their First Half 2015 Total Earnings of $17.9 Bil ..... In Comparison, Annual Total Audited Earnings of These US Companies in 2015 Also Decreased by a Huge 37% From Annual 2014 and Annual Total Audited Earnings in 2014 Also Decreased by 7% From Annual 2013 ..... Far From a Good Earnings Picture in the Past 2 1/2 Years

From a review of the superb Google Finance Website and of company financial statements in the US SEC website, I found the 278 Companies headquartered in the US with Stock Market Capitalizations several months ago of $3-5 Bil.  Traditional Regulated Utility Companies are excluded.

These 278 US Companies posted First Half 2016 US GAAP Earnings From Continuing Operations of $13.6 Bil, which were down 24% from the $17.9 Bil registered in the First Half 2015.  The First Half Earnings amounts are predominately for the Six Months Ended June, with the remainder being for the Six Months Ended in either May or in July.  Two of these 278 US Companies have not reported one of their quarterly earnings in the first half of 2016 with the SEC and thus these quarterly earnings were excluded below.

Unfortunately, this 24% Total Earnings Decline in the First Half of 2016 from the First Half of 2015 followed another huge 37% Total Earnings Decline in Annual 2015 from Annual 2014.
