The 113 Largest US Companies With Market Caps Several Months Ago Above $40 Bil Registered First Half 2016 US GAAP Total Earnings of $311 Bil, Down Only 3% From Their First Half 2015 Total Earnings of $320 Bil ..... In Comparison, Annual Total Audited Earnings of These 113 US Companies in 2015 Increased 1% Over 2014 and Their Annual Total Audited Earnings in 2014 Were Down 5% From 2013

From a review of the very fine Google Finance Website and of company financial statements in the US SEC website, I found the 113 largest Companies headquartered in the US with Stock Market Capitalizations several months ago of more than $40 Bil.

These 113 largest US Companies posted First Half 2016 US GAAP Earnings From Continuing Operations of $311 Bil, which were down 3% from the $320 Bil registered in the First Half 2015.  The First Half Earnings amounts are predominately for the Six Months Ended June, with the remainder being for the Six Months Ended in either May or in July.

Below here are the total reported US GAAP Earnings (Losses) From Continuing Operations for the First Half of both 2016 and 2015 of the 113 US Companies with Market Caps several months ago of more than $40 Bil, with the Total Earnings amounts presented in Company Stock Market Capitalization order of several months ago:
