Let me focus on what Massachusetts is known for.....its many Health Care & Technology Companies..... and how these Companies filing Initial Public Offerings (IPOs) since 2009 have done on the stock market price front.
From a thorough study of the excellent IPO Scoop website, I found 37 Health Care and Technology Companies Headquartered in Massachusetts with Current Stock Market Capitalizations of at least $100 mil which have filed IPOs since the beginning of 2009.
How did they do? Well, fantastically.
For these 37 Massachusetts Health Care and Technology Companies, the average stock market price appreciation over their Initial Offering Prices was an extremely impressive 120% for the very short period of time from their IPO dates to the current February 27, 2015 date, as you can see in the below chart. California's Technology and Health Care IPOs since 2009 have done great, but Massachusetts' Health Care and Technology IPOs since 2009 have done even better.
