Louisiana Companies Earnings Were $1.0 Bil in 9 Months Ended September 2014, Up 959% Over 9 Months Ended September 2013

Since many members of the Louisiana State Legislature have had discussions on how to substantially increase health care coverage to the many Louisiana uninsured and underinsured citizens and to do so in the optimally fair way to all parties, and also since Indiana Governor Mike Pence and US Health and Human Services Cabinet Secretary Sylvia Burwell have just struck such a groundbreaking, very forward-thinking deal that did just that, as an economic backdrop, I think it would be helpful in several posts to research how Louisiana companies, hospitals and the overall State of Louisiana's economy have all been doing financially.

In this first post I will be addressing Louisiana Companies earnings and losses.

From a very thorough review of SEC filings and of the Google Finance website, I found 22 Companies headquartered in the State of Louisiana with Stock Market Capitalizations of at least $100 mil now and also with annual audited financial statements filed with the SEC which included financial information covering all years from 2007 to 2013.

Twenty of these 22 Louisiana Companies have December Year Ends and thus have filed their 10-Qs with the SEC for the 9 Months Ended September 30, 2014.

These 20 Louisiana Companies generated Total Net Income from Continuing Operations for the 9 Months Ended September 30, 2014 of $1.017 bil, an increase of a monstrous 959% over the $.096 bil registered in the 9 Months Ended September 30, 2013.

Also, this Total Audited Net Income from Continuing Operations of these 20 Louisiana Companies of $1.017 bil in the 9 Months Ended September 30, 2014 was a very impressive 456% increase over the $0.183 bil Total Audited Annual Net Earnings in the financial meltdown year of 2008.

Below here are the Net Income (Losses) of each of these 20 Louisiana Companies for the 9 Months Ended September 30, 2014 and 2013 and for Annual 2008:
