The 65 Atlanta, Georgia Metro Area Companies With Market Caps Above $100 Mil Generated Total Audited US GAAP Earnings of $32.606 Bil in 2016, the Obama Administration's Last Year, Up 65 Times From Total Audited Losses of $0.509 Bil in 2008, the Year Before President Obama Took Office ..... The Total Audited Earnings For the Two Years 2015 and 2016 Combined Were An Earnings Improvement of $58.026 Bil From the Two Years 2008 and 2009 Combined

Since there is a key US House Special Election on Tuesday April 18, 2017 in the politically astute and financially savvy 6th Congressional District located in the Northern Metro Area of Atlanta, Georgia, I think it might be helpful to research how Atlanta, Georgia Headquartered Companies have performed on the audited earnings front during the Obama Administration.

From a review of the very fine Google Finance Website and of company financial statements in the US SEC website, I found the 65 Companies headquartered in the Atlanta, Georgia Metro Area, all with Stock Market Capitalizations now of more than $100 Mil and which also have filed their fiscal year 2016 annual financial statements with the SEC.  Tradition Regulated Utilities were excluded.

2016 Total Earnings declined 5% from 2015, due both to United Parcel Service having a $1.7 Bil After-Tax Charge in 2016 related to Mark-to-Market Defined Benefit Plans and to HD Supply Holdings recording a one-time $1.0 Bil Tax Benefit in 2015 related to an assessment change it made related to the likelihood of whether it would realize in the future its Deferred Tax Assets.

It should also be pointed out that Total Earnings in 2013 are unusually high due to Delta Air Lines recording a one-time $8.3 Bil Tax Benefit in 2013 related to an assessment change it made related to the likelihood of whether it would realize in the future its Deferred Tax Assets.
