Texas Company Stock Prices Up 501% Since March 6, 2009

I found 261 Texas Headquartered Companies in Yahoo's or Google's superb Finance websites or from SEC filings with Total Market Capitalizations currently of at least $100 mil and which also had their common stocks trading on each of the following three dates:
  • On December 31, 2007 during President Bush's second term
  • On March 6, 2009, very early in President Obama's first term, which was the lowest point for the US stock market due to the spillover effects resulting from the 2008 financial meltdown, and 
  • also on the most recent date July 3, 2014
I also included below 4 Texas Companies which were sold in 2014.  And I also included one Texas Company which first started trading in early 2008.  That makes it 266 Texas Companies.

The historical stock prices of these companies were obtained from the following two excellent internet resources....  Google Finance and MarketWatch Big Charts.

These 266 Texas Companies had their average stock market prices decline by a massive 56% from December 31, 2007 during President Bush's second Presidential term, to March 6, 2009, very early in President Obama's first term, which was the very lowest point for the overall stock market due to the spillover effects resulting from the disastrous 2008 Financial Meltdown.

But in the five years and four months since March 6, 2009, the equally-company-weighted average stock market prices of these same 266 Texas Companies have increased by a spectacular 501% through July 3, 2014.

The 150 Texas Non-Oil&Gas Companies experienced an average stock market price increase in the most recent five years and four months of a phenomenal 608%.

And the 116 Texas Oil&Gas Companies had an average stock market price increase of a very impressive 362% over the most recent five years and four months.

In similar fashion on the employment front, the US unemployment rate doubled from 5.0% in December 2007 to 10.0% in October 2009, early in President Obama's first term which was the very lowest point for the US Labor Market due to the spillover effects resulting from the disastrous 2008 Financial Meltdown.

And then with the US economic stimulating actions of the Obama Administration taking full effect, coupled with the Quantitative Easing by the US Fed, the US unemployment rate declined sharply from 10.0% in October 2009 to 6.1% in the most recently reported June 2014.

In like manner, Texas's unemployment rate nearly doubled, going from 4.4% in December 2007 to 8.1% in October 2009. And then with the US economic stimulating actions of the Obama Administration going full throttle, coupled with the Quantitative Easing by the US Fed, the Texas State unemployment rate declined sharply, going from 8.1% in October 2009 to 5.1% in the most recently reported May 2014.

Texas State Citizens must be very pleased with both the outstanding performance of nearly all of their Texas Companies as well as the substantial drop in the Texas State Unemployment rate during the Obama Administration.
