San Francisco Bay & Silicon Valley Area Company Stock Prices Up 516% Since March 6, 2009

I found 193 San Francisco Bay Area, including the Silicon Valley Area, Headquartered Companies in Google or Yahoo's superb Finance websites with current Total Market Capitalizations of at least $100 mil and which also had their common stocks trading on each of the following three dates:
  • On December 31, 2007 during President Bush's second term
  • On March 6, 2009, very early in President Obama's first term, which was the lowest point for the US stock market due to the spillover effects resulting from the 2008 financial meltdown, and 
  • also on the most recent date July 10, 2014
I also included 4 Companies which were sold in 2014.  And I also included one Company whose common stock first started trading in early 2008.  That makes a total of 198 San Francisco Bay/Silicon Valley Area Companies.

Several of these 198 San Francisco Bay/Silicon Valley Area Companies are legally headquartered overseas but with very substantial operations in the San Francisco Bay/Silicon Valley Area.

The historical stock prices of these companies were obtained from the following two excellent internet resources....  Google Finance and MarketWatch Big Charts.

These 198 San Francisco Bay/Silicon Valley Area Companies had their average stock market prices decline by a massive 54% from December 31, 2007 during President Bush's second Presidential term, to March 6, 2009, very early in President Obama's first term, which was the very lowest point for the overall stock market due to the spillover effects resulting from the disastrous 2008 Financial Meltdown.

But in the five years and four months since March 6, 2009, the equally-company-weighted average stock market prices of these same 198 San Francisco/Silicon Valley Area Companies have increased by a phenomenal 516% through July 10, 2014.

In similar fashion on the employment front, the US unemployment rate doubled from 5.0% in December 2007 to 10.0% in October 2009, early in President Obama's first term which was the very lowest point for the US Labor Market due to the spillover effects resulting from the disastrous 2008 Financial Meltdown.

And then with the US economic stimulating actions of the Obama Administration taking full effect, coupled with the Quantitative Easing by the US Fed, the US unemployment rate declined sharply from 10.0% in October 2009 to 6.1% in the most recently reported June 2014.

In like manner, California's Stare Unemployment rate more than doubled, spiking up sharply from 5.8% in December 2007 to 12.1% in October 2009. And then with the US economic stimulating actions of the Obama Administration going full throttle, coupled with the Quantitative Easing by the US Fed, the California State unemployment rate declined sharply from 12.1% in October 2009 to 7.6% in the most recently reported May 2014.

San Francisco Bay/Silicon Valley Area Citizens must be very pleased with both the outstanding performance of nearly all of their Companies as well as the substantial drop in the California State Unemployment rate during the Obama Administration.
