These 80 Virginia Corps had their average stock prices increase by 148% from January 16, 2009 to August 30, 2013. This 148% increase is 1.6 times the 92% increase in the S&P 500 Index over the same time span.
The 56 Non-Financial Virginia Corps did even better, generating an average stock price increase of 173% so far during the Obama Administration.
By area within the State of Virginia, 38 of the 80 Corps are located in the Northern Virginia/DC Area, 18 in the Richmond Area and 9 in the Hampton Roads Area. The excellent stock market performance occurred all throughout the State with the average stock market increase being 215% in the Hampton Roads Area, 146% in the Richmond Area and 145% in the Northern Virginia/DC Area.
