From a review of SEC filings, I found 366 US Basic Manufacturing Companies with stock market caps earlier in 2018 of between $1 Bil and $10 Bil.

I define the key US Basic Manufacturing Companies as all US Companies with Standard Industrial Classification Codes (SICs) in the 2000s and 3000s filing with the US SEC excluding all clearly Oil & Gas Companies, all clearly Technology Companies and all clearly Health Care Companies.  There also were a couple other clearly US Manufacturing Companies with SICs not in the 2000s and 3000s that I included in these 366 US Basic Manufacturing Companies.  

Of these 366 US Basic Manufacturing Companies, 267 of them have either December, January or February fiscal year ends and thus have Audited Financial Statements earnings amounts shown below for Annual 2017, 2016 and 2015.  Nearly all of these 267 US Companies have December Fiscal Year Ends.

My Focus is on Pretax Income rather than on After-Tax Net Income because Corporate Income Taxes are simply a transfer of financial wealth between US Corporations and the US Federal, US State and Foreign Governments.  It has nothing whatsoever to do with Company Operating Performance.

The Audited Annual 2016 (12 Months Ended December 2016, January 2017 and February 2017), which was overwhelmingly immediately before the Trump Administration took office, showed a superb 12% total pretax earnings growth over that in Audited Annual 2015 for these 267 US Basic Manufacturing Companies.

Then in 2017, the Trump Administration's first year in office, this Audited Annual Total Pretax Earnings Growth stepped up to an exceptional 20% from the Audited Annual Total Pretax Earnings Growth of 12% in 2016.

The first chart below shows the Gold-Standard US GAAP Audited Total Pretax Income (Loss) From Continuing Operations for Annual 2017, 2016 and 2015 for each of these stellar 267 US Basic Manufacturing Companies with December, January or February Fiscal Year Ends.

The Total Pretax Income of these 99 Companies decreased by a Huge 37% for the First Nine Months of 2018, by a staggering 53% for the First Quarter of 2018 and by another staggering 52% for the most recent Third Quarter of 2018.
