The 64 Smaller New York State Non-Financial Cos 1Q 2019 Total Pretax Operating Income (TPOI) Decreased By 5% While the Largest Cos Increased By 5% and the Smaller Cos 4Q 2018 TPOI Decreased By 53% While the Largest Cos Decreased By 25%

Democratic Presidential Candidate Pete Buttigieg Has Been Very Active Campaigning in the Financially-Savvy and Politically Astute New York Area.  Thus, I Think It Might Be Helpful to Research Just How the New York Non-Financial Companies Have Performed on the Pretax Operating Earnings Front in the Most Recent Three Quarters

From a review of SEC filings, Google Finance, MSN Money and Market Watch Big Charts, I found 97 New York State Non-Financial Companies with stock markets caps of above $1 bil sometime since the beginning of 2018  and which have reported their 1Q 2019, 4Q 2018 and 3Q 2018 earnings to the SEC by May 24, 2019.  Of these 97 Companies, 88 of them disclosed their key Pretax Operating Income amounts.  The 9 that didn't were Pfizer, IBM, Bristol-Myers Squibb, Fox Corp, Hess Corp, PVH Corp, Bunge Ltd, News Corp and Moog. 

My Focus is on Pretax Income rather than on After-Tax Income because Income Taxes are simply a transfer of financial wealth between US Corporations and the US Federal, US State and Foreign Governments.  It has nothing whatsoever to do with company operating performance.

From SEC filings, the chart below shows the Gold-Standard US GAAP Pretax Operating Income (Loss) for the First Quarters of both 2019 and 2018, the Fourth Quarters of both 2018 and 2017 and the Third Quarters of both 2018 and 2017 for each of these 88 New York State Non-Financial Companies.
