The 24 Largest New York State Non-Financial Cos Saw Their Total Pretax Operating Income Increase By 5% in the 1Q 2019, After Declining By 25% in the 4Q 2018 and Increasing By 7% in the 3Q 2018

Democratic Presidential Candidate Pete Buttigieg Has Been Very Active Campaigning in the Financially-Savvy and Politically Astute New York Area.  Thus, I Think It Might Be Helpful to Research Just How the Very Largest New York Area Non-Financial Companies Have Performed on the Pretax Operating Earnings Front in the Most Recent Three Quarters

From a review of SEC filings, Google Finance and MSN Money, I found 29 New York State Financial Companies with stock markets caps of above $10 bil recently.  Of those 29 Companies, 24 of them disclosed their key Pretax Operating Income amounts.  The 5 that didn't were Pfizer, IBM, Bristol-Myers Squibb, Fox Corp and Hess Corp. 

My Focus is on Pretax Income rather than on After-Tax Income because Income Taxes are simply a transfer of financial wealth between US Corporations and the US Federal, US State and Foreign Governments.  It has nothing whatsoever to do with company operating performance.

From SEC filings, the chart below shows the Gold-Standard US GAAP Pretax Operating Income (Loss) for the First Quarters of both 2019 and 2018, the Fourth Quarters of both 2018 and 2017 and the Third Quarters of both 2018 and 2017 for each of these 24 very largest New York Area Non-Financial Companies.
