Given these two key Atlanta fundraisers, I think it would be helpful to research just how Georgia Headquartered Companies have done on the stock market price front since March 6, 2009, which was the very bottom point of the US Stock Market due to the spillover effects resulting from the disastrous 2008 financial meltdown.
During this five years and six months period of time from March 6, 2009 through September 5, 2014, the Democrats controlled the US Senate.
I found 68 Companies Headquartered in Georgia in Google or Yahoo's superb Finance websites with current Total Stock Market Capitalizations of at least $100 mil and which also had their common stocks trading on each of the following three dates:
- On December 31, 2007 during President Bush's second term
- On March 6, 2009, which was the lowest point for the US stock market due to the spillover effects resulting from the 2008 financial meltdown
- and also on the most recent date September 5, 2014
The historical stock prices of these companies were obtained from the following two excellent internet resources.... Google Finance and MarketWatch Big Charts.
These 71 Georgia Companies had their equally-company-weighted average stock market prices decline by a massive 55% from December 31, 2007 during President Bush's second term to March 6, 2009, which was the very lowest point for the overall stock market due to the spillover effects resulting from the disastrous 2008 Financial Meltdown. Both Georgia US Senators were Republicans and George W. Bush was President when the disastrous 2008 Financial Meltdown occurred.
But in the five years and six months since March 6, 2009 through September 5, 2014, when the Democrats were in control of the US Senate, the equally-company-weighted average stock market prices of these same 71 Georgia Companies have increased by a spectacular 484%.
Thus in the six years and eight months from December 31, 2007 before the 2008 financial meltdown occurred to the most recent date September 5, 2014, the equally-company-weighted average stock market prices of these same 71 Georgia Companies have increased by a very impressive 88%...... yeah, they have not just recouped the massive amount they lost with the disastrous 2008 financial meltdown, but also added another 88%.
This 484% average stock market price growth for the five years and six months from March 6, 2009 to September 5, 2014 is a bit above the comparable 479% average stock market price growth for these same Georgia Companies for the one month shorter five years and five months from March 6, 2009 through August 14, 2014.
Below here are the stock market prices of each of these 71 Georgia Companies on September 5, 2014, on March 6, 2009, and on December 31, 2007, along with the related Stock Market Price Percentage Changes:

In addition to the above 71 Georgia Companies, there have been 7 Georgia Companies shown below which have filed Initial Public Offerings (IPOs) since 2010 and had their stock market prices increase by 23% or better from their Initial Offering Prices. Four of the seven have seen their stock market prices more than double, led by FleetCor Technologies being up more than five times. One of them, Greenway Medical Technologies, was subsequently sold in November 2013.

In like manner on the employment front, from the US Bureau of Labor Statistics, Georgia's State unemployment rate more than doubled, going from 5.1% in December 2007 to 10.4% in October 2009, which was the very lowest point for the US Labor Market due to the lagging spillover effects resulting from the disastrous 2008 Financial Meltdown. But in the four years and nine months since then, when Democrats were in control of the US Senate, the Georgia State unemployment rate has declined from 10.4% in October 2009 to 7.8% in the most recently reported July 2014.
Georgia Citizens must be very pleased with both the outstanding performance of nearly all of their Georgia Companies as well as the significant drop in the Georgia Unemployment Rate, both occurring during the most recent roughly five years when the Democrats were in control of the US Senate.
