I found 15 US Big Corps in Other Sectors, which file with the SEC, and which have Pretax Income or Pretax Loss of more than $200 mil in any of the most recent three years.
The Total Pretax Income of these 15 US Big Corps in Other Sectors was $9.1 bil in 2011, up only 7% from 2010, but up a very strong 97% over 2009.
In deriving Pretax Income, I start with Pretax Income under Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), and then exclude several clearly unusual very large items relative to Pretax Income, such as Asset Impairment Charges and the just huge Alternative Fuel Mix Tax Credits in the Forest and Forest Products Sector in 2009 (just how could the country possibly have gotten its money's worth for these massive tax subsidies granted to this industry?).
Below here is the Pretax Income (PTI) and Pretax Loss of these 15 US Big Corps in Other Sectors for each of the most recent three years.
