Dallas, TX-Based AT&T Reported a 4Q 2017 Pretax Loss of $1.283 Bil as Compared To a Pretax Income of $3.191 Bil in the 4Q 2016 ....................................................................................... So What Caused This Pretax Loss in the 4Q 2017? Well, For One of Many Items, It Took Asset an Abandonment and Impairments Earnings Charge of $2.914 Bil in the 4Q 2017 ....................................................................................... So Why Did AT&T Take All of These Earnings Charges in the 4Q 2017? Because It Also Reported an Income Tax Benefit of $20.419 Bil Which Increased Its Earnings in the 4Q 2017 By the Same Amount! My Gosh, Where Did That Come From? Well $20.3 Bil of it, or 99.4% of It, Came From the Clearly Texas-Favored Trump Tax Bill and Specifically It Was Due To the US Federal Income Tax Debt Forgiveness Feature in the Tax Bill Which is Completely Funded By US Taxpayers ....................................................................................... What US Taxpayers Should Be Asking Themselves Is Just What Are They Getting For Funding Not Just Tax Debt Forgiveness of $20.3 Bil Granted To AT&T But the Tax Debt Forgiveness Totalling Roughly $800 Bil Being Granted To All US Corporations Combined Including to Ones Which Are Subsidiaries of Foreign Corps: This Is the Moral Outrage of the Trump Tax Bill Stealing $800 Bil of US Taxpayer Funds and Pocketing It Into the 4Q 2017 Bottom Line Earnings of the Largest US Corps and Nearly Every Republican in the US Congress Is Proud of This Achievement ....................................................................................... And So Just How Many Jobs Has AT&T Added To Receive This $20.3 Bil of Tax Windfall From US Taxpayers? Well in Its 4Q 2017 Earnings Release, AT&T Disclosed That Its Number of Employees at Dec 31, 2017 were 254,000 as Compared with 268,540 One Year Earlier at Dec 31, 2016, or They Lost 14,540 Jobs or 5.4% of Its Work Force in the Past Year and It Gets Rewarded By a Tax Windfall of $20.3 Bil From US Taxpayers For Doing It By the Trump Tax Bill
